How many diets have failed you in your bid to lose weight? What is it with diets that simply don’t work? It’s incredible how many people still teach the myth that eating tiny amounts of food will bring about weight loss. In reality when we cut down on the food we eat we run the risk of actually gaining weight. The human body is designed to read restricted food consumption with starvation. By reducing the quantity of food we eat we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.
Studies show that thin people tend to eat a diet that are made up from more complex carbohydrates (such as veggies, wholegrains etc) and individuals who are overweight usually have diets that contain more fat. Understanding what studies tell us about what contributes to weight loss is important when designing a weight loss plan. One of the best ways to lose weight is to adopt a low carb diet where you closely monitor the amount of high GI carbohydrate you eat each day, but are not too concerned about the other foods. Don’t see this as an excuse to overeat, as you still need to watch quantities, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get a good proportion of healthy and nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.
The weight gain is largely a factor of lifestyle and eating habits and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. As it took so long for the weight to creep up, you should allow some time to get back to your normal weight. People who haven’t figured out the balance between watching what you eat, getting lots of water, getting regular exercise and making sure they get enough sleep are easy pickings to those pushing the current fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss diet. You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. As we live in a world where we want everything now, it’s very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to conceive that we have power to enhance our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight and unhealthy is the thing of the past.
Diets will fail because they do not promote a balance within your body. Most diets are doomed to failure because they are designed towards making someone or some company money rather than producing a diet plan or system that will actually aid an individual to lose weight.
It is a known fact that people who are carrying excess weight are prone to illnesses and other life shortening health issues because of excessive body weight. Saturated fat consumption is one of the main contributors to unnecessary body fat.
People have been taught for far too long that they need to drastically reduce their food intake or count every calorie they consume in order to burn off excess fat. In actual fact our bodies are more than able to manage weight providing we give our bodies what they need to stay healthy - like making sure you get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, eat healthy and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.
Getting rid of those extra pounds is not simply about watching what you eat, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Moderate portions of wholesome foods are very important to losing weight. It’s also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies respond well to physical exertion!
